About the PositionAs a Water Instrument Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our mission. Working under general supervision, you’ll apply your technical skills to install, maintain, and repair high-precision hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring instruments. The District operates a vast network of over 400 automated precipitation gauges across Maricopa and surrounding counties, capturing real-time rainfall data that’s essential for public safety, emergency response, and flood management.
This position requires regularly working at heights to access and service equipment, so a willingness and ability to safely work at elevated locations is essential. If you’re comfortable with heights, excited about technology, the environment, and serving your community, this role is for you!
Though Maricopa County is in a desert, floods occur during two distinct rainy seasons – the summer monsoon and winter frontal rains. Although the Flood Control District has made significant progress over the years, work remains to be done. Maricopa County continues to be one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States, with over 200 people moving here every day!
