Position OverviewThe Facilities Assistant supports the day-to-day operation and upkeep of company facilities. This position assists with routine facility needs, maintains a clean and safe work environment, and provides general support to the Facilities team.
The Facilities Assistant works with internal employees, Facilities team members, and outside service providers as directed. This role provides an opportunity to develop foundational knowledge and experience in facilities operations, building maintenance, and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:Facilities Operations
- Assist with routine day-to-day facility and building needs.
- Perform basic facility checks to identify cleanliness, safety, or maintenance concerns.
- Report facility issues and maintenance needs to the appropriate Facilities team member.
- Assist with submitting, logging, and tracking work requests.
- Help with basic facility tasks such as moving furniture, setting up areas, organizing supplies, and maintaining common areas.
- Assist Facilities team members with routine inspections and maintenance activities.
- Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
- Perform other general facilities support duties as assigned.
- Assist Facilities team members with coordinating scheduled services and vendor visits.
- Help provide access and direction to vendors and contractors when requested.
- Report any issues or concerns with completed work to the appropriate Facilities team member.
- Assist with maintaining basic records of vendor visits, service activities, and related documentation.
- Help organize facility-related invoices, receipts, and service records.
- Assist with routine safety and facility checks.
- Report potential safety hazards, building issues, or maintenance concerns to a supervisor or Facilities team member.
- Support fire safety, emergency preparedness, and other safety activities as directed.
- Follow company safety procedures, facility policies, and established work practices.
- Assist with maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.
- Respond to basic facilities-related requests from employees and route issues to the appropriate team member.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service to employees, visitors, and vendors.
- Communicate facility concerns clearly and promptly.
- Work cooperatively with the Facilities team and other departments.
- Escalate issues that require additional knowledge, authorization, or specialized support.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 3years+ of Previous facilities, maintenance, warehouse, operations, custodial, construction, or general labor experience is helpful but not required.
- Willingness to learn basic facilities and building maintenance practices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic communication and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills, including email and simple spreadsheets.
- Ability to keep accurate records and complete basic documentation.
- Ability to identify and report routine facility or safety concerns.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
- Reliable, dependable, and willing to take direction.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Positive, service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks after receiving direction and training.
