Student Worker (Driving Duties) - Landscape & Athletic Fields (FWS/NFWS)
The University is seeking a Landscape Student Worker to support the care and maintenance of our athletic fields and campus grounds. This position works closely with the Athletics Turf Manager to maintain high-quality playing surfaces and create a safe, attractive environment for students, athletes, and visitors. Primary responsibilities include assisting with the upkeep of soccer fields, baseball and softball fields, intramural synthetic turf areas, and track and field facilities.
While the focus is on athletic fields, duties may expand to other campus landscapes as needed. This role is ideal for students who enjoy working outdoors, take pride in keeping the campus beautiful, and want hands-on experience in landscape and athletic turf management.
- Perform seasonal grounds and turf care tasks as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and beautification of athletic fields and surrounding areas.
- Inspect fields and grounds for maintenance needs.
- Lift and move up to 25-50 lbs.
- Learn and assist with operating small equipment (e.g., weed eater, blower, mower).
- Learn and assist with field painting for practices and games.
- Drive golf cart on/off campus
- Up to 20 hours per week during the academic year.
- Up to 40 hours per week during breaks (per GCU policy).
- Flexible scheduling, including days or evenings, as needed.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks independently.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Professional, respectful, and positive attitude.
- Ability to collaborate with team members and support event preparation.

- Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor's program or master's program.
- Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
- You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
