The Public Works Department Fleet Services Division is the backbone of City operations, managing a diverse fleet of more than 8,000 vehicles and pieces of equipment that keep our community moving. From acquisition and maintenance to fueling, sustainability initiatives, telematics, and lifecycle planning, our mission is to ensure every department has the reliable, efficient, and cost-effective assets needed to deliver essential City services.

The Fleet Services Division is seeking an exceptional Equipment Fabrication Foreman who is a strategic thinker and a proactive problem-solver, experienced in managing a high-volume shop, ready to support a high-performing team, and elevate service excellence across the City. We are looking for a dynamic professional who thrives on collaboration but also brings confidence, technical expertise, organization, and initiative. In this critical role, the Equipment Fabrication Foreman supports that mission by coordinating the new vehicle preparation/upfit, modifications, collision repair, and surplus of vehicles and equipment across the City's fleet.

• Plan, prioritize, assign, and supervise the work of employees engaged in the fabrication, modification, and collision repair of automotive and other fleet equipment.
• Lead and instruct employees in the preparation of new vehicles for service, vehicles for auction, collision repairs, and the fabrication and modification of equipment for vehicles (toolboxes, racks, rails, safety screens, hitches, lift gates, and other accessories).
• Maintain frequent contact with outside vendors and other City departments, and follow up on customer service issues or requests.
• Demonstrate superior seamless customer service, integrity, and a commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
• Demonstrate exemplary customer-service skills.
• Accurately input and retrieve data in M5 (a computerized equipment management information system), requisition materials and supplies, and inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure it meets required standards.
• Surplus vehicles and equipment that have been flagged for disposal due to the end of useful life, mechanical failure, and total loss.

• Methods, materials, equipment and operation of general automotive, auto body and mechanical repair shops.
• Motorized equipment operation and testing (examples: dozers, graders and heavy duty trucks).
• General techniques, materials and practices of trades which are related to new vehicle make-ready.
• Hydraulic and automotive electrical systems.
• Skilled in the principals and practices of welding, repair, modification and fabrication of automotive or fleet equipment.

• Observe or monitor objects to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
• Work cooperatively with other City employees and the public.
• Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
• In addition to being proficient with computers and applicable software.

Pay Range: $34.08 to $50.35 per hour.

Hiring Range: $34.08 to $45.67 per hour.

• Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
• Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
• Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
