This is a Full‑Time 40‑Hour Weekly position with the SD Developmental Center. The South Dakota Developmental Center (SDDC) is a division of the Department of Human Services dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities through person‑centered services.

Job Summary:
As a Facility Worker at the South Dakota Developmental Center, you will help ensure the smooth operation and safety of our facilities. Each day offers new challenges and opportunities to showcase teamwork, problem‑solving, and attention to detail while maintaining high standards for cleanliness and building functions.
Licenses and CertificationsMay be required to possess or have the ability to obtain a valid driver license.
The Ideal Candidate Will HaveA strong Facility Worker candidate possesses several key qualities, including a strong work ethic, attention to detail, a commitment to a sanitary living and working environment, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
ResponsibilitiesKnowledge of:
- Perform custodial duties to provide a clean and sanitary facility
- Clean and sanitize restrooms
- Conduct basic building maintenance
Skill:
- Scrub, mop, wax, and polish floors using dry and wet mops, wax applicators, and buffers
- Vacuum and shampoo carpet
- Dust and wash walls, woodwork, ceilings, and windows
- Collect and remove refuse from offices and buildings
- Move, lift, carry, and arrange furniture, equipment, and other objects
- Remove ice, snow, and debris from sidewalks, streets, and grounds to make area accessible for safe operations
Ability to:
- Follow direction
- Read and write
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Lift up to 50 lb.
This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
