Position Overview

As a Custodial Technician at Galen College of Nursing, you will perform routine and preventative custodial work of campus facilities and equipment, assist with security coverage, and clean and maintain campus grounds including all common spaces, classrooms, learning labs, study spaces, bathrooms, storage areas, faculty and staff areas, break rooms, testing areas, Galen shop, outdoor patios, parking lots, and walkways. You will remove trash daily, maintain and sanitize surfaces, replenish sanitary products such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, and hand sanitizer, properly maintain and clean all floors, windows, and walls, replace light bulbs and supplies, paint and repair walls and door frames, perform ancillary maintenance duties, follow daily, weekly, and quarterly cleaning and maintenance schedules, and maintain a secure and clean campus climate for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Performs all cleaning for interior and exterior of campus

Maintain proper inventory of all custodial supplies, notifies supervisor for weekly orders

Responds to emergency cleaning requests, as required.

Assemble and/or repair items, as needed.

Use tools ranging from common hand tools and cleaning tools

Replace light bulbs and supplies, as needed.

Paint and repair walls, doors, frames, etc.

Perform additional custodial duties as directed.

Perform minor security details

Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Communicate orally with co-workers, customers, clients, or the public in a face-to-face, one-to-one setting or using a telephone. Work cooperatively with other contractors, employees, various levels of management, and students.
Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:
Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Lift 25-50 pounds.
Degree of Supervision:
Minimal.
