General

Job Description:

This individual fills in on a part-time or hourly basis for absent regular staff to keep educational facilities clean, safe, and operational. Daily responsibilities include sanitizing restrooms, sweeping floors, and emptying trash. During summer and winter breaks, responsible for cleaning of all facilities and assisting with preparation, set up, and clean-up of buildings for school activities.

Responsibilities
  • Checks daily schedule of school activities that require preparation and clean up
  • Anticipates and replenishes consumable supplies to avoid interruptions
  • Performs assigned custodial duties
  • Cleans assigned area(s)
  • Cleans floors, furnishings, fixtures, walls, and windows
  • Provides regular/orderly removal of trash
  • Moves and arranges equipment/furnishings and supplies as directed
  • Assists in receiving deliveries. Inspects packages and confirms inventory with packing lists.
  • Performs outdoor tasks such as weeding, trimming, and mowing.
  • Reads/complies with all MSDS information
  • Follows approved health and safety guidelines
  • Participates in all training as directed
  • Advises administration of emerging issues
  • Follows approved health/safety guidelines
  • Pursues opportunities to enhance professional performance
  • Utilizes required District software/technology
  • Performs other specific job related duties are directed
Qualifications
  • The successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED. Work skills substantiated by training and/or relevant work experience. Some maintenance experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to cope with stressful and/or adverse conditions
  • Collects records and maintains data accurately. Applies basic mathematical concepts correctly.
  • Reacts productively to interruptions/changing conditions
  • Interacts comfortably and confidently with the public
  • Demonstrates dependability/flexibility. Reacts productively to interruptions and changing conditions.
  • Works effectively with limited supervision. Manages tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.

    Demonstrates basic proficiency in the use of software/technology
  • Embodies high ethical standards and integrity. Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.
  • Meets all mandated health screening requirements.
  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.
  • Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.
Salary

Appropriate placement on the Miscellaneous/Intermittent Salary Schedule. Salary will be $16.50 per hour. Maximum 1500 hours per year. One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.

Other Benefits

School Employees Retirement System and Worker's Compensation. Upon hire, additional benefits may be offered depending upon hours worked, job classification, and placement on the Upper Valley Career Center Salary Schedule. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.

Performance Evaluation

Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.
