Custodial Aide

Part Time Position (3.5 Hours Per Day)

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Health and inoculation certificate on file in the Central Office. Ability to work independently without supervision. Desire to continue career improvement.

Functions And Responsibilities:
Provides a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. Ensures that all activities conform to district guidelines. Communicates effectively with all members of the school district and community. Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned. Appropriately operates all equipment and machinery as required. Supports the value of an education.

Supports the philosophy and mission of USD 250. Keeps building and premises (including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas) neat and clean at all times. Cleans classroom and office floors daily. Dumps pencil sharpeners, trash and replaces bags. Dust furniture, lines up desks, cleans blackboards, erasers and chalk trays. Cleans classroom sinks. Cleans corridors each day. Dusts locker tops, washes and repairs as needed.

Cleans drinking fountains daily. Mop restroom floors and cleans all sanitary fixtures daily. Fills soap, towel and toilet paper dispensers. Sweeps, bleaches, stage and stairs. Cleans behind bleachers. Mops as needed. Throughout the building, replaces light bulbs as needed. Removes gum, tape, and marks from floors and walls. Dusts walls as needed. Cleans air return and vent louvers as needed.

Dusts window ledges. Buffs and recoats floor as needed. Washes windows inside and outside at least twice a year, and more frequently if necessary. Ensures that all doors and windows are secured and all lights are turned off (except as necessary for safety reasons) at the close of each school day. Immediately reports unauthorized persons to the Principal. Immediately reports damaged school property to the Principal.

Sees that district policies are observed at all times. Other duties as assigned by the Head Custodian, Maintenance Director or Administrative Staff.

Environmental Conditions:

Requires prolonged sitting or standing. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching. Requires climbing and balancing. Must work indoors and outdoors year-round. Must work in noisy and crowded environments. Must work in and around dust, fumes and odors.
