JOB TITLE: SEASONAL LABORER

DEPARTMENT: PARKS, TRAFFIC, WATER/SEWER, WASTEWATER, HIGHWAY, GARAGE

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: FULL TIME SEASONAL/NON-EXEMPT

UNION/NON-UNION: NON-UNION

The City of Pittsfield is seeking summer Seasonal Laborers for several City departments. The responsibilities may include but are not limited to: cleaning and other janitorial duties, maintenance and care of City-owned buildings and property. Operate equipment such as mowers, blowers, chippers, compacters, weed whackers, pavement/ground breakers, drills, saws and hand tools.

• Valid Class D driver's license preferred
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to handle and operate tools and equipment as required
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to deal efficiently and effectively with the public and other employees.

The incumbent works in various dynamic municipal buildings and locations. While performing the duties of Seasonal Laborer the incumbent is required to: interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City. Frequent periods of outside work may be entailed, subject to all weather conditions and extremes.

Ability and agility to climb ladders and physical labor such as digging holes, walk long distances over uneven terrain; lift fifty (50) pounds from the ground level to chest height in standing position; and work outdoors in all weather.

40 hours per week.

7:00am – 3:30pm, M-F

Starting rate $17.99 - $19.18 per hour

Annual increases up to $23.37 per hour
