- Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines as well as American Camp Association accreditation standards.
- Maintains and follows all health regulations (i.e., washing hands, keeping hair back, no open‑toed shoes, no tank tops).
- Arrives 45 minutes before scheduled mealtimes.
- Remains on the job during mealtimes; no sitting, eating, or drinking during camper mealtimes or cleanup times.
- Keeps a daily account of dishwasher temperature and reports any equipment problems to the Camp Dining Hall Supervisor.
- Washes dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using dishwashers or by hand after each meal.
- Places clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas that are protected from dust and contamination between uses.
- Cleans the dishwasher room area, including walls and baseboards, after each meal; no items should be sitting on the floor.
- Wipes down the dining room wall by the tray window after each meal and mops.
- Maintains kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition.
- Mops the kitchen daily after the evening meal and mops the dish room after each meal.
- Keeps the outside area trash clean; hoses off the back dock at the end of each day.
- After each meal, empties trash cans and relines them; washes garbage cans with water weekly.
- Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team, delivering and supervising evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all‑camp activities.
- Keeps personal living quarters neat, clean, and ready for inspection.
- Is available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director.
- Knowledge of cleaning practices, methods, and techniques.
- Knowledge of The Salvation Army’s mission, philosophy, culture, and protocol.
- Ability to embrace, support, and promote The Salvation Army’s mission and ministry.
- Ability to represent The Salvation Army in a professional manner.
- Ability to wash dishes and kitchen appliances.
- Ability to clean the kitchen.
- Ability to communicate and work with groups of varying ages and skill levels and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
- Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior‑management techniques.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid; must be able to assist campers in emergencies (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
- Six months of experience working in a kitchen preferred.
- Or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- CPR and First Aid Certified.
