Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Reporting to the Plant Engineer, the Electromechanical Technician is responsible for ensuring high reliability of plant equipment by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and identifying improvement opportunities to minimize downtime.
This skilled maintenance technician role includes:
- Adhering to all safety rules and procedures, including Highland Packaging Electrical Safety Work Practices.
- Passing electrical skills and safety testing to qualify as a Category 2 worker.
- Establishing and maintaining documentation of electronic systems and supporting software.
- Evaluating electronic systems and software applications.
- Designing, implementing, modifying, and updating wiring or devices on equipment.
- Participating in process improvements, new installations, and electronic, PLC, or mechanical projects.
- Working on electrical systems up to 480 Volts.
- Performing PM duties, project work, scheduled or breakdown maintenance, including mechanical and building repairs.
- Supervising and mentoring maintenance team members.
- Being available 24/7 for consultation and emergency call-ins.
- Managing vendor relations and communication.
- Coordinating with the Maintenance Planner on inventory management of electronic spares.
- Maintaining electrical parts storage, housekeeping, and organization.
Location: Perimeter of the Store Plastics Plant in Plant City, FL
Qualifications include:
- 3-5 years of experience in an industrial setting focused on electrical and electronic devices (PLC, VFD, contractors, PCs).
- Strong electrical and electronics skills, with proficiency in control applications.
- Knowledge of software, device configuration (VFD, controllers).
- Understanding of current applications and systems, both mechanical and electrical.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing and CMMS.
- Skillful use of electronic measuring and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to read blueprints and diagrams.
- People skills and vendor relationship management.
- Commitment to ongoing technical training and education.
