As a Custodian, you will play a vital role in keeping our campus clean, safe, and welcoming while building meaningful connections with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
As a Custodian at UW‑Platteville, you'll support the upkeep of historic landmarks like Ullrich Hall, a 1916 academic building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. At the same time, you'll work around Sesquicentennial Hall, a state‑of‑the‑art engineering and science facility, which contains the expansive Huff Family Innovation Center, one of the largest makerspaces in the Midwest.
Key Job Responsibilities- Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
- Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
- Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
- Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
- Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
- Competitive Pay: $17.00 per hour

- Effectively perform and meet cleaning and maintenance expectations in assigned areas.
- Maintain clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice.
- Maintain organization of supply areas and equipment.
- Work with campus customers, co‑workers, and supervisors as a team.
- Remove waste and recyclables from assigned residential areas using equipment and supplies.
- Assemble and move furniture, equipment and deliver supplies as needed or requested.
- Operate specialized machinery and work with chemicals.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, move furnishings and work on feet for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read work instructions and schedules, warning labels and instructions for equipment operation.
- H.S. Diploma or GED
