Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the maintenance and repair of CNC machinery, valves, airlines, and automated systems in a smaller, close-knit manufacturing environment. This role focuses on diagnosing and troubleshooting CNC controls, PLCs, and ladder logic diagrams, performing electrical work on 480V systems, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability. The position supports productivity, quality, and safety compliance standards while contributing to budgeting and cost control.

The Maintenance Supervisor also trains and mentors team members, assists with scheduling and resource planning, and directly oversees one maintenance technician.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair CNC machinery, valves, airlines, and automated systems to ensure consistent and reliable production.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot CNC controls, PLCs, and ladder logic diagrams to quickly identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Perform electrical work, including running 480V from the incoming power supply to equipment and systems as needed.
  • Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Support and uphold productivity, quality, and safety compliance standards throughout the maintenance operations.
  • Contribute to budgeting and cost control efforts related to maintenance activities, parts, and equipment.
  • Train and mentor maintenance team members, sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
  • Assist with scheduling maintenance work and planning resources to meet production and maintenance needs.
  • Directly oversee one maintenance technician within a small, close-knit team environment.
  • Collaborate with production and other departments to prioritize maintenance tasks and support operational goals.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and improvements to maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and safety, and recommend solutions.
  • Demonstrate a desire and capability to grow into a management role over time, including building and leading a larger maintenance team.
Essential Skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for computer-driven machines and automated production lines.
  • Ability to read and interpret ladder logic diagrams accurately.
  • Hands-on experience working with PLC systems, including diagnostics and basic programming or adjustments.
  • Electrical experience with 480V systems, including safe installation and maintenance practices.
  • Background in service or installation of industrial equipment or CNC machinery.
  • Capability to implement and manage preventive maintenance programs for production equipment.
  • Comfort working in a smaller CNC shop environment and supporting multiple machines and systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to equipment failures or process interruptions.
  • Effective communication skills to train, mentor, and coordinate with team members and other departments.
  • Organizational skills to assist with scheduling, resource planning, and documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Desire and capability to grow into a management role over time, including developing leadership skills.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Open to strong technician-level candidates; prior supervisory experience is not required.
  • Experience in CNC machining environments or similar automated manufacturing settings is beneficial.
  • Exposure to Blue Cross Blue Shield or similar benefit structures is not required but the role offers comprehensive benefits.
  • Interest in building and eventually leading a maintenance team with a clear path to a Maintenance Manager role.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime and weekend hours as needed to support production demands.
  • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
  • Willingness to adhere to attendance and performance point structures, including verbal and written warnings tied to point accumulation.
  • Readiness to work first shift hours, with the flexibility to support night shift operations when necessary.
