The Custodial Services Program Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role located in Platteville, WI, responsible for overseeing custodial operations across assigned university facilities. This position plans, schedules, and directs custodial staff to ensure clean, safe, and well-maintained academic, residential, and public spaces that support student learning and campus activities. The supervisor monitors work quality, establishes and enforces custodial standards, and ensures proper use of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety procedures.
Daily responsibilities include assigning work orders, coordinating with other facilities and campus departments, maintaining inventory of supplies, and responding to building cleanliness or maintenance concerns. The role also involves training staff, supporting performance evaluations, promoting continuous improvement in custodial practices, and contributing to a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Experience in custodial operations, building maintenance support, and facility cleanliness management in institutional or commercial settings.
- Skills in staff supervision, team leadership, scheduling, and workload prioritization to oversee custodial personnel effectively.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning methods, equipment and chemical use, OSHA and safety standards, and best practices for health and sanitation.
- Ability to communicate clearly with staff, faculty, and students; maintain accurate records; and use basic computer applications for scheduling and reporting.
- Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management skills, with attention to detail and commitment to service quality.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a diverse community and foster an inclusive, respectful workplace.
- Prior supervisory experience in custodial or facilities services and familiarity with higher education environments preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional vocational training, certifications in custodial or facilities management, or related coursework are beneficial.
