Maintenance​/Custodial Worker - PG Pool

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Maintenance/Custodian Workers serve under the direction of the Aquatics Management and the general supervision of the Facility Operations Manager. Weekly hours are part-time, not to exceed 29 hours per week.

Wage: $10-$12/hour. Part‑time, non‑benefitted, non‑exempt.

The Maintenance Workers will manage several requests and projects simultaneously, ensuring familiarity with pool area items, relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. They must handle multiple tasks and responsibilities at once and be prepared to deal with emergencies and stressful situations at any time.

• Applicants must be at least 14 years of age.

• Ability to make sound decisions in a stressful aquatic environment, with some medium lifting involved.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Moderate physical activity; standing and/or walking for up to 4 hours per day.
• Work environment may involve early hours and exposure to hazards; must follow basic safety precautions and procedures.
• Good communication skills, both oral and in writing.
• Good public relations and customer service skills under stressful situations.
• Ability to understand written and spoken instructions.
• Ability to lift 15 to 50 pounds.

Prior experience is a plus, but not required.

This position is expected to serve the public through the offerings of the swimming pool and may require work in adverse weather conditions. The worker must lift, carry, and manage equipment and supplies, stand for extended periods, and may need to work odd or long hours to complete special requests or projects. Hours may include weekends and some holidays, vary with season and activity demands, up to a maximum of 29 hours per week, and occasionally involve strenuous physical activities both indoors and out.
