Compensation: $21–$26 per hour
OverviewOur client, a leading manufacturer of commercial and industrial air movement solutions, is seeking a Mechanical Test Technician to join their laboratory team. The role involves hands‑on testing, assembly, and evaluation of fan, ventilator, and air‑handling equipment in a fast‑paced laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Set up, test, and evaluate commercial and industrial fans, ventilators, and related equipment for air, sound, and mechanical performance.
- Perform assembly and modification of fans and equipment using hand tools, pneumatic tools, electric drills, impact wrenches, welding equipment, grinders, torches, and similar devices.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely while following safety protocols.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and bills of materials to verify correct parts selection and accurate assembly.
- Coordinate materials flow in shipping and receiving, including loading/unloading trucks, inspecting, labeling, and processing shipments.
- Perform dimensional verification of products according to engineering, manufacturing, and quality standards.
- Set up test units in the UL 705 motor safety testing facility and high‑temperature system.
- Wire electric motors to the facility’s electrical supply circuits via disconnect switches and conduit boxes.
- Identify root causes of equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
- Act with integrity and professionalism consistent with the company’s values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 13 years of experience with sheet metal construction techniques, welding, forming, or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, and stand.
- Ability to work extended hours standing on a concrete floor or sitting at a computer.
- Drafting or blueprint experience.
- Experience with testing and assembly of mechanical equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or ISO 17025 quality management systems.
- General computer aptitude.
