Custodian General Description

Performs a variety of custodial and related maintenance duties in an assigned area or building.

• Maintain WWS building and grounds clean, neat, and safe.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks (washing, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, dusting, removing trash).
• Conduct heavy‑duty cleaning of restrooms, locker rooms, sidewalks, windows, and building walls.
• Apply floor treatments using specialty equipment.
• Execute light maintenance activities and custodial projects (pressure cleaning, replacing dispensers, changing light bulbs).
• Clean, organize, and maintain custodial storage areas.
• Inspect areas for cleanliness and supplies; replenish supplies as needed.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning products, supplies, and equipment.
• Cut grass on adjoining lawns; collect litter; sweep walkways around buildings.
• Move and set up furniture; prepare rooms for scheduled programs and activities.
• Operate a variety of janitorial tools and equipment (pressure cleaners, floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, extension poles).
• Perform security‑related duties as needed.
• Clean building surfaces of varying heights and difficulty.
• Perform related work as assigned.
• Use cell phone, tablet, and work order tracking software; climb stairs, ladders, and work from aerial lift.

Minimum

Education and Experience Requirements:

3 months in commercial cleaning, custodial work, or related maintenance.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
Valid Florida Class E Driver’s License.

• Associate, Bachelor, or Vocational Degree in related field.
• License or Certification in Plumbing or Carpentry.
• Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) Certification or equivalent.
• OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Certification (BPC); IJCSA Chemical Hazards Certification (CHC); IJCSA Carpet Cleaning Certification; IJCSA Customer Service Certification (CSC); IJCSA Biohazard Cleaning Certification (BCC); IJCSA Mold Inspection & Remediation Services Certification (MIRS).
• CMI ISSA Advanced Custodial Technician Certification or equivalent.
• 1+ years experience using Maximo, Data Splice, or similar maintenance management software.
• 1+ years documented knowledge/experience in occupational exposure, chemical disinfection, biohazard precautions, or PPE.
• 1+ years custodial work experience in an industrial/commercial/plant setting.
• 1+ years documented knowledge/experience using janitorial services software such as Compu Clean.
