Responsibilities

  • Oversees programs involving electrical, mechanical, and general construction, repair, and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment, and operation of plant utilities. Conducts walk-throughs to visually and physically assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and any other related equipment.
  • Assigns and verifies completion of routine maintenance and operation of the resort’s physical structure, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, and any other related equipment, ensuring safe and effective operation of the facility. Visually inspects work quality and directs staff and outside contractors according to performance and productivity standards.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and allocates personnel; communicates departmental and individual job goals and performance criteria; appraises staff and disciplines department staff and all other staff under the direction of Property Operations.
  • Informs the General Manager and resort department heads on a regular basis regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems and equipment, and offers prudent and cost‑effective proposals for maintenance.
  • Communicates effectively with city and county officials to ensure proper maintenance of permits and licenses, coordinating inspections with the appropriate departments.
  • Maintains and documents effective energy management and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Act as a liaison between the resort and vendors to review the latest resort and hotel technology products and adheres to all corporate budgets, purchasing policies, and controls, including outside contractor bids and schedules.
Supportive Functions
  • Maintains an appropriate supply of materials and equipment to carry out the resort’s day‑to‑day operating and maintenance requirements.
  • Maintains organized and efficient administrative and filing systems within Property Operations for timely and accurate handling of correspondence, reports, purchase requisitions, and other administrative requirements.
  • Maintains a well‑defined and organized system within the shop for inventory, maintenance, and storage of all tools, products, materials, and equipment necessary to execute departmental activities.
  • Is immediately available to report to the resort in the event of any resort emergency requiring the skills and expertise of this position.
  • Performs all duties within the area of responsibility and technical capabilities as required by management.
  • May be required to perform other duties and special projects assigned by the supervisor/manager due to the nature of the business.
Qualification Standards
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must attend to guests, associates, and management in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service‑oriented manner that requires strong customer service and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and communicate in English to adequately perform the duties of the job.
  • Outstanding organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate daily workload.
  • Ability to handle sensitive material with utmost discretion and confidentiality.
  • Energetic self‑starter able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Detail‑oriented and able to work independently and with a team.
  • Effective at listening, understanding, and clarifying inquiries made by resort staff.
  • Shows initiative, including anticipating resort or operational needs.
Education
  • High School or better.
  • Preferred:
    Associates or better.
Experience
  • Preferred:
    Two years experience in engineering management in hospitality or high‑rise industry.
