Maintenance Assistant; Part-time; Public Works

Job Title

Performs unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor tasks in the maintenance, upkeep, and repair of City facilities.

Provide assistance to support various trade personnel in the performance of their work, i.e., electrician, HVAC technician, carpenter, plumber, custodian and other trades or City personnel.

Clean interior and exterior of the buildings as well as machinery, equipment and grounds.

Perform routine maintenance and repair work, such as painting, minor carpentry, changing light bulbs, and various other routine maintenance tasks.

Maintain the cleanliness of office, shops, storage and mechanical rooms.

Hold and carry tools and materials needed by technicians as they perform duties.

Operate electrical and gas-powered equipment including but not limited to drills, saws, air compressors, pressure cleaners, leaf blowers and other related equipment.

Operates motor vehicles to transport materials, supplies, and tools.

Perform monthly maintenance checks of the building, grounds, and facilities.

Perform cleaning and detailing of Facilities' fleet vehicles.

Performs other duties as assigned.

High school graduation or equivalent and working knowledge of tools and equipment used in maintenance, repair or construction work. Possession of valid Florida driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
