Job Description & Responsibilities

We are seeking skilled Travel Welders specializing in stainless steel MIG welding. This role involves both welding and the preparation of pieces according to standard work instructions. Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in using fixtures and executing precise welding techniques on stainless steel materials with thicknesses ranging from 2.7 to 6.5 meters.

• Perform MIG welding on stainless steel materials.

• Read and interpret work instructions and standard work processes from a computer.

• Lay out and prepare pieces for welding per standard work instructions.

• Conduct fixture preparation and pulse welding.

• Perform fitting, using hand tools and conducting grinding as needed.

• Utilize blueprints and 3D models for layout and welding tasks.

• Adhere to safety guidelines by wearing a special welding hood with a respirator provided by the company.

Per Diem/Travel Information

• Per Diem-eligible employees will receive per diem pay to cover their food & lodging while in Pontiac - $166/day, 7 days

• Employees are responsible for their own daily transportation and for getting to the job site

• This is a 6-month contract with potential to last 1-3 months longer

Shifts Available

• 7:00am - 3:00pm

• 3:00pm – 11:30pm

• 11:00pm – 7:00am

All employees can expect to work at least 50 hours per week

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in stainless steel MIG welding.

• Ability to operate and navigate a computer for accessing work instructions.

• Proficiency in reading dimensions, measurements, and weld symbols.

• Capability to perform own fitting and layout tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• AWS 1.6 Stainless Steel Code knowledge.

• Preferred experience in layout welding, though not required.

• Willingness to balance welding and layout work evenly

Work Environment

The work environment involves specialized welding booths where welders are required to wear a special hood with a respirator due to Hex Chrome exposure. Uniforms are provided by the company, and all tasks are completed using modern tools and technology, promoting a safe and efficient workspace.

This is a Contract position based out of Pontiac, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
