Summary:
The job of Helper 1 is done for the purpose/s of (or assist in the performance of job duties to include) pruning, mowing, trimming, heavy equipment operation, hazardous tree removal, irrigation systems, athletic field set-up/lining, play toy safety inspections, play toy repair, plumbing, carpentry, light electrical, locksmithing, electronics, roofing, painting, equipment repair, and asbestos work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists various personnel and trades as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities;
- Cleans landscaped areas and related items of litter, overgrown plant material, etc. (e.g. storm drains, etc.) for the purpose of preventing flooding and removing hazards;
- Prepares documentation (e.g. written and electronic) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information;
- Assists in preparation of grounds and athletic fields (e.g. assemblies, graduation, ball fields, courtyards, flower beds, greenbelts, etc.) for the purpose of providing adequate, attractive and safe areas for assemblies, athletic events, recreational use, and other activities;
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety or security concerns and performs repairs as necessary;
- Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, landscaping materials, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site;
- Installs, repairs, and operates irrigation systems as necessary for the purpose of maintaining all grounds in a safe, healthy, and attractive condition;
- Occasionally operates heavy equipment (e.g. tractors, mowers, backhoes, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining district facilities and systems;
- Provides snow removal and sanding services for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment around district facilities;
- Inspects facilities and related system components for the purpose of ensuring safety, cleanliness, identifying necessary repairs, and performing preventative maintenance actions as required;
- Installs, assembles, repairs, and/or replaces components and parts in mechanical, HVAC and structural systems for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
