Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity and aesthetic standards of the Portland Museum of Art's (PMA) facilities, grounds, and associated equipment. This role includes general maintenance tasks, event support, adherence to safety protocols, and accurate documentation and reporting to ensure a well‑functioning, clean and safe environment for all.

Job Functions
  • Facilities and Maintenance Support
    • Responds to service calls.
    • Performs daily maintenance and cleaning of the PMAs facilities.
    • Maintains the PMAs vehicles.
    • Performs general building, grounds, and equipment maintenance.
    • Assists with basic IT infrastructure and responsibilities.
    • Handles minor repairs on HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems.
    • Provides escort and monitoring of external contractors and vendors.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Assists in tracking and reporting tasks and metrics.
    • Maintains logs, cleaning records, and equipment inventories in compliance with local and national codes.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Follows all safety protocols and procedures, including compliance with OSHA standards and the PMAs policies, to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Participates in safety training programs and assists in assessing and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
    • Handles and disposes materials in alignment with environmental and safety guidelines.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration
    • Supports events to ensure smooth operations and handles breakdown and cleanup tasks.
    • Collaborates on special projects, as needed.
