Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Title
Job duties include:
• Make scheduled and special operational checks of equipment to include switchboards, rheostats, relays, circuit breakers voltage regulators, dredge pump speed control system, telemotor steering system, engine order telegraph, etc.
• Observe gauges, pistons, notes unusual conditions (heating, oil or grease loss, loose fittings, broken or inoperative units, etc.) and makes repairs or adjustments as required.
• Make periodic or special preventative maintenance checks of units.
• Listen, dismantles, observes, replaces scheduled or worn elements, lubricates, packs, repairs, etc., as required.
• Install replacement or new equipment (floodlights, signals, fixtures, etc.)
• Repair, or participates in the repair, of any electrical unit on board (motors, pumps, generators, control panels, special equipment, etc.)
• Itemize materials and parts used. Changes instrument charts.
