Position: Maintenance Technician 2nd shift M-F 2:30pm to 11pm ($35.58-$45.58)/hr

Maintenance Technician Overview

The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment and facilities within a food manufacturing environment. This position involves a combination of technical skills, problem‑solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment.

Shift Differential:
Additional $1.50 per hour for hours worked between 6PM and 6AM. Must be flexible for overtime and weekend work.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance – Perform routine preventive maintenance on production machinery (conveyors, mixers, packaging equipment, refrigerations). Conduct inspections, lubrication, adjustments, diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime. Respond promptly to emergency unscheduled troubleshooting and repairs during production to prevent disruptions.
  • Facility Maintenance – Maintain cleanliness and organization of the production area, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards and food safety regulations. Monitor and repair facility systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) to support a safe and comfortable working environment.
  • Safety and Compliance – Adhere to all safety protocols, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, PPE usage, and safe work practices. Participate in safety training programs and contribute to safety initiatives. Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and company policies related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations.
  • Documentation and Reporting – Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment inspections, inventory management, repairs, parts replacements, and maintenance procedures to track equipment history and performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication – Coordinate with production supervisors, operators, engineering, quality assurance, and safety personnel to prioritize maintenance tasks and minimize disruptions. Provide technical assistance and training to production staff on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Other Duties – Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Education & Certifications – High school diploma or GED required; technical school education preferred.
  • Experience – Five (5) years of related experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in an automated food processing plant; five (5) years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Electrical troubleshooting/repair – PLC, relay logic, HMI, SCADA, 480V, 220V, 110V AC single/three‑phase, DC systems.
  • PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA system proficiency.
  • Understanding of electrical systems: motors, drives, industrial sensors.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to electrical and control systems.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Mechanical repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Computer proficiency to support documentation in the computer maintenance management system.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

The role requires daily exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness, poor lighting, noise, vibration, and seasonal weather extremes. Employees must stand, walk, lift and carry up to 50pounds, use fine dexterity, and perform kneeling, crawling, twisting. Good vision, hearing, and communication skills are essential.
