Job Description & How to Apply Below
About the Role:
Marsee Baking is seeking a Facilities Assistant 30-40 hours per week to support our Facilities Manager in keeping our production facility safe, compliant, and running smoothly. This is a hands-on role — someone equally comfortable doing physical maintenance and build-out work, maintaining our delivery trucks, and managing documentation, cleaning logs, and food safety compliance processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilities, Equipment & Fleet Maintenance
● Hands-on maintenance of the building, bakery production equipment, and company trucks/vehicles — including basic repairs, oil changes, and routine truck upkeep
● Respond to facility and equipment issues as they arise; help triage and prioritize repairs
● Perform routine and preventive maintenance directly (mechanical, electrical, plumbing basics, pneumatic systems)
● Maintain a clean working environment and keep tools, parts, and equipment organized at all times
● Remove equipment guards, doors, and belts and perform deep cleaning of equipment involving removal of dried dough, filling materials, and other food products
● Handle day-to-day upkeep — weekly equipment checks, light bulb/filter replacement, general building tidiness
● Support small build-out and installation projects (e.g., pneumatic air lines, equipment installs, facility modifications)
● Coordinate with outside vendors (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, pest control, equipment technicians) on scheduling, scope, and quality of work
● Track equipment and truck maintenance schedules and logs
● Weekly pest control trap inspections
Food Safety, Sanitation & Compliance
● Follow established sanitation and safety protocols; help keep post-cleaning logs and the master sanitation schedule up to date
● Cleaning and sanitation of hard to reach areas including ceiling vents, tops of ovens, and cooler and freezer rooftops
● Weekly soap, quat, and chlorine dispenser chemical testing and verification
● Assist with pathogen environmental swabbing (e.g., ATP/Listeria monitoring) as directed
● Support the Facilities Manager during AIB audit prep and day-to-day GMP/food safety compliance tasks as needed
General
● Act as a proactive second set of hands for the Facilities Manager, taking ownership of projects and areas as skills grow
● Help train production staff on proper cleaning, maintenance-reporting, and safety procedures; maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications:
● 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, industrial/food manufacturing maintenance, or a related hands-on technical role
● Comfortable performing physical/mechanical work personally, including basic vehicle maintenance
● Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or pneumatic systems
● Experience coordinating with outside contractors/vendors
● Self-directed; able to prioritize across competing demands and communicate clearly with vendors and staff
● Willingness to learn basic food safety and sanitation practices; no HACCP/AIB experience required
● Team-first attitude — pitches in wherever help is needed, not only when asked
● Strong organizational skills — comfortable owning documentation, logs, and recordkeeping
● High school diploma required; technical/trade certification, associate's degree, or equivalent experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
● Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work in varying temperatures (including cooler/freezer areas and production floor conditions)
● Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends as facility needs require
What Success Looks Like in Year One:
● Fully cross-trained on preventive maintenance schedules and vendor and fleet relationships
● Independently handling routine sanitation logging and swabbing tasks, and a trusted extra hand during AIB audit prep
● Trusted to lead small build-out or repair projects start to finish
Compensation details: 20-24 Hourly Wage
