Resident Field Service Representative - Water Treatment
The Resident Field Service Representative role at Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions involves providing operations and maintenance expertise on water treatment systems across various industries. This position is critical for ensuring the optimal performance of technologies such as media filtration, softening, reverse osmosis, and more. The representative will be responsible for troubleshooting, conducting maintenance, and performing analytical testing to meet customer needs and contract specifications.
Key characteristics include a safety and environmental stewardship mindset, the ability to follow recommended maintenance plans, work independently or in a collaborative team environment, comfort working in an industrial (largely outdoor) setting, good attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to perform analytical, mechanical, and electrical hands-on tasks and troubleshooting.
Duties and responsibilities include carrying out mechanical, electrical, and controls preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment such as valves, air compressors, ejectors, process pumps, blowers, and instrumentation; consulting with customer management and operation teams; maintaining inventory of spare parts and adequate supply of chemicals and replacement parts; creating and maintaining site paperwork, and providing customers with detailed technical summaries of work performed;
ensuring contract compliance of volume and quality specifications; performing analytical testing such as turbidity, hardness, chlorine, pH, CO2, O2, SDI, TOC, and other site-specific testing requirements; assisting in providing service activities including parts refurbishment, maintenance, calibration of equipment, inspection, repair, performance testing, customer communications, project assessment and execution, and telephone customer support; having the ability to work schedules that will fluctuate based on customer and business needs/demands;
performing diagnostics testing, repairs, test and calibration routines on the instruments, and completing all required paperwork; collecting payment information and generating shipping and billing paperwork; providing extensive equipment support and general hardware and software support; ensuring compliance with all aspects of safety on the job, including the operation and maintenance of an assigned company vehicle (if applicable) and comply with all Veolia Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies;
and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely with project teams; strong technical, mathematical, and customer service skills; general knowledge of electrical equipment, water chemistry, and safety; vision, manual dexterity, and coordination sufficient to service instruments and handle electrical equipment; ability to learn applicable company procedures within a reasonable time from start of employment; computer proficiency with a minimum of word processing and spreadsheets, and basic data base knowledge;
ability to use ordinary hand tools, calibrated tools, and analytical instrumentation, as well as chemically aggressive fluids, such as acids and bases; strong verbal and written communication skills; and self-motivated, with the ability to drive projects to completion with minimal oversight, while demonstrating significant problem solving ability with an unfailing dedication to deadlines and commitments.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma/GED/home school certification or international equivalent and 2+ years' experience of service/maintenance or equivalent in an industrial environment. A valid driver's license is also required.
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's or associate's degree in science/engineering (STEM) or technical certificate in instrumentation.
