NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Gregory Mott, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

SUBSTITUTE CUSTODIAL WORKERS
POUGHKEEPSIE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must meet Civil Service requirements
Candidates must submit a Frontline application to be considered for appointment

DUTIES:
The Poughkeepsie City School District (PCSD) is committed to providing students and parents with pathways to opportunity that will lead to achievement and success. This is routine work requiring efficient performance of simple cleaning tasks under general supervision of custodians or senior custodial workers. The work of employees in this class involves the thorough execution of tasks which follow a well-established routine.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Dust chairs, tables, desks and other furniture; moves furniture as required to perform duties;

Washes windows, walls, woodwork, bathrooms, tubs and bowls;

Sweeps, mops, and washes floors;

Strips and waxes floors;

Cleans and maintains building exteriors;

Gathers and disposes of refuse;

Cleans and polishes furniture and brass;

May be required to perform or assist in minor repairs;

May be required to perform maintenance chores such as painting or snow removal;

May be required to operate a school bus, if physically fit, qualified and properly licensed;

May be required to to make deliveries and run errands;

Does related work as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to get along well with others; thoroughness; punctuality; cleanliness; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.

SALARY:
$18/hour, per diem
