Maintenance Worker
Primary Responsibilities
- Transport raw materials and semi-finished products or supplies between departments or buildings to supply machine tenders or operators with materials for processing.
- Arrange boxes, material, and hand trucks or other industrial equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
- Clean lint, dust, oil, and grease from machines, overhead pipes, and conveyors.
- Clean screens and filters.
- Scrub processing tanks and vats.
- Clean floors and apply floor drier; operate a self-propelled floor scrubber requiring 30 pounds of force.
- Picks up reusable scrap for salvage and stores in containers.
- Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Dust furniture and equipment.
- Wash walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
- Wash windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empty wastebaskets and ashtrays.
- Transport trash and waste to disposal area; trash disposal requires lifting trash bags up to 50 lbs overhead into dumpster.
- Replenish bathroom supplies.
- Picks up refuse from plant grounds and maintains area by shoveling snow, and general landscaping cutting brush.
- Operate industrial truck to transport materials within plant.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or-two step instructions;
Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variable.
The physical demands described here include regularly required standing, walking, use of hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; frequent required climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and talking or hearing; occasionally required tasting or smelling; must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions; occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock; noise level usually loud.
