Job Summary
This position performs a variety of basic maintenance, groundskeeping, and utility tasks, including sorting mail, applying herbicides and pesticides, routine repairs, and safety inspections.
Responsibilities- Sort and distribute mail, packages, and deliveries.
- Apply herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals to eliminate weeds and pests.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance: identify problems, implement repairs, and maintain facility aesthetics.
- Repair and paint interior and exterior walls.
- Maintain and repair sprinkler systems, landscape equipment, and other maintenance assets.
- Operate and maintain maintenance equipment and tools.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies are low.
- Gather materials and equipment, and move furniture and equipment as needed.
- Clear snow and ice from walkways.
- Set up and tear down items for campus meetings and events.
- Perform other related duties as required.
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and at least one year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Licensing Requirements- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Acceptable background check.
- Basic facilities cleaning and grounds maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of chemicals, chemical mixtures, safety and security procedures, and their usage.
- Understanding of applicable equipment and tools.
- Safe motor vehicle operating practices and procedures.
- Maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment.
- Reading and comprehending Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, buildings, and other facilities.
- Proper handling of chemicals.
- Use of applicable tools and equipment.
- Monitoring grounds and facilities for safety hazards.
- Safely operating motor vehicles, including buses.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions are required. Positions may involve handling heavy objects (up to 100 pounds of force occasionally). Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, intense noise, and travel. Weekend, evening, or holiday work may be required.
