Job Duties
The I &E Technician reports to the Shift Leader and collaborates with other trade, production engineering, and scheduling groups to accomplish job duties. The Technician complies with all HSEQ policies, regulations, and Arkema rules, and executes Emergency Response procedures to mitigate unplanned events, reporting near misses, accidents, and incidents to the supervisor. The position is located in a chemical manufacturing facility with inherent risks.
Activities include:
- Participate as a member of the Instrument, Electrical, and Controls (IEC) craft workers group.
- Attend daily maintenance execution meetings and “Safety Toolbox” discussions.
- Complete assigned work order tasks outlined in the IEC craft schedule.
- Support and perform assigned instrument and electrical tasks as required.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with HSE procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical materials and publications.
- Provide external I&E contract services.
- Assist Planner/Scheduler in coordinating external I&E contract resources (e.g., APCO, Fenwal, Alabama Scale, Emerson‑Rosemount).
- Support external controls contract service personnel while performing tasks on site.
- Perform day‑to‑day calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrument and electrical systems, including pressure, flow, level, temperature, and pH instrumentation; environmental monitoring systems such as thermal oxidizer, opacity monitors, and flares; packaging equipment; wireless telemetry systems; and electrical transmission and distribution systems (12.5 kV line, switches, gang switches, transformers, switch gear, and motor control centers).
- Complete safety‑critical preventive maintenance programs, monitoring compliance and troubleshooting malfunctions for cause and correction.
- Support safety activities, including job hazard analysis, incident investigations, job task audits, equipment audits, and action item resolution from incidents.
- Participate in on‑call after‑hours support for the plant as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Technical certification in industrial electrical, instrument, control, or HVAC systems.
- Annual OSHA‑approved CPR training.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience and/or 2 years of college/trade school in addition to the high school diploma.
- Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office products (Word, Access, Excel).
- Proficiency in plant‑specific software (CMMS, PI, or similar).
- Successful completion of aptitude and skills assessments, including troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work well with other departments and a self‑motivated, team‑oriented mindset.
- Good oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license with proficient driving skills and an acceptable driving record.
- Capacity to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
