You Will Do

Primary

Purpose:

The Maintenance Manager reports to the Terminal Manager and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, safety, quality control, budgeting, regulatory compliance for all maintenance and repairs associated with a fleet of more than 80 pieces of rolling stock, as well as the managing performance of our 16‑person maintenance team (Leads, Mechanics, Warehouse and a Clerk). Equipment includes 100‑ton haul trucks, 60‑ton haul trucks, wheeled and tracked material handlers, cable cranes, 18‑wheel tractors, pole trucks, and other heavy mobile equipment.

  • Follow Kinder Morgan (KM) procedures, policies, safety rules, and federal and state laws.
  • Manage equipment maintenance and operations of KM by performing the duties personally or through subordinate personnel.
  • Responsible to oversee and direct repairs and maintenance of heavy mobile equipment including haul trucks, material handlers, cable cranes, on‑road trucks, support equipment, and associated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mobile equipment electrical systems.
  • Direct and support troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of electrical systems associated with mobile equipment. This position is not responsible for fixed‑facility electrical infrastructure maintenance.
  • Understand and communicate knowledge to others pertaining to operations.
  • Train and develop subordinates in repairs and service
  • Establish and maintain necessary crew/work schedules to meet the customer needs while maintaining control of the established budget.
  • Stay abreast of changes in working conditions or new technology that could increase the safety and efficiency of the operations employees.
  • Initiates and supports improvement plans for employees to succeed in their efforts to achieve the goals of the department.
  • Organize and maintain an accurate record keeping process for site operations.
  • Confer as focal point with other supervisors in the organization to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Assist and train employees in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Direct employees engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing parts and or service on equipment / machinery.
  • Requisition and control spare parts inventory.
  • Interpret company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations, company policies/procedures and work rules and assigns duties.
  • Recommend measures to improve equipment performance, and quality of product handling.
  • Has understanding and grasp of environmental and operational impacts associated with heavy equipment maintenance and mobile fleet operations.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department and/or work crew.
  • Take lead in assuring performance of daily maintenance and directs repairs.
  • Maintain inspection, time and production records.
  • Organize and documents site operations.
  • Inspect, direct and maintain the KM equipment either owned or leased by KM under his supervision.
