SUMMARY: Performs maintenance and repair services at assigned district facilities. Delivers supplies throughout the District to ensure a safe, clean, and functioning environment for students and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform a wide variety of preventive maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, within capabilities and licensing certifications as needed and as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Attend painting projects of district facilities as required.
- Maintain communication with site-based lead custodians to ensure necessary supplies are ordered.
- Monitor and record district-wide safety concerns and report them to the Director of Maintenance or Facilities Coordinator.
- Assist with special custodial projects as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Fill in for Lead Maintenance and custodians and groundskeepers as needed.
- Maintain all floor surfaces safely.
- Report major repair needs to the school’s Lead Maintenance/Custodian.
- Report any vandalism or other damage of district property to Director or Facilities Coordinator.
- Assume responsibility for securing assigned area.
- Assist with snow removal from district facilities when needed.
- Operate a variety of machines, tools, and equipment safely to accomplish duties.
- Read labels on chemicals and Material Safety Data Sheets to ensure safe use, storage, and handling of all cleaning and maintenance chemicals.
- Open the D.O. in the mornings.
- Serve as on‑call in the mornings for Bright Futures Preschool.
- Order all supplies and deliver them throughout the School District.
- Provide training and support to custodial and maintenance staff.
- Assist in moving boxes, equipment, and/or furniture throughout the District.
- Ability to operate mechanized tools, maintenance, and cleaning equipment.
- Responsible for keeping purchase receipts, P.O. numbers, and credit card records for the District.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Produce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
- Apply common sense to solve practical problems and handle various situations.
- Work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies.
- Handle confrontation and conflict without emotional response.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of previous maintenance experience.
- AZ driver’s license.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that meets minimum requirements.
- Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance.
Computer Proficiency: Ability to read and respond to district emails and interact with the work order tracking system.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employees must reach with hands and arms, frequently sit and occasionally stand and walk; may move ten pounds and occasionally lift or move up to twenty-five pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoor office environment; noise level generally quiet to moderate, may become noisy eraction with employees, external agencies, and the public.
