ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:(Other duties may be assigned)
- Keep building and premises, including, sidewalks, drives, and play areas neat/clean at all times.
- Keep building secure at all times ensuring doors are locked accordingly.
- Sweep, dry mop, wet mop, or vacuum all instructional and non-instructional spaces that are in daily use including classrooms, offices, libraries, etc. on a daily basis.
- Remove stains daily from carpet in assigned area.
- Dust furniture, window sills and anywhere necessary in assigned area.
- Clean desktops and boards, remove trash, and empty pencil sharpeners in assigned area.
- Clean corridors each day and during the days when condition requires it in assigned area.
- Check and clean all drinking fountains daily in assigned area.
- Scrub, hose, and disinfect restroom floors and clean all restroom fixtures, such as urinal, bowls, stalls, sinks, mirrors and walls, daily in assigned area.
- Check and refill all dispensers, such as, soap, hand towel, and toilet paper in assigned area.
- Check and replace light bulbs and/or ballasts as needed.
- Unload and check deliveries as assigned.
- Help move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal or director.
- Make minor building repairs as assigned by supervisor.
- Report major repairs needed promptly to the head custodian.
- Report any damage to school property immediately to the principal.
- Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
- Wash windows inside and out twice each year and more frequently if necessary and as assigned.
- Be available for extra night or weekend duties such as, athletic events or meetings.
- Remove snow/ice from entrances, walks, bus loading and parking areas and sand as necessary.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/orEXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent. Experience with custodial/maintenance duties strongly desired.
LANGUAGESKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend correspondence, memos, instructions, and documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to speak effectively with staff, students and community.
MATHEMATICALSKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of distance, weight and volume measurement.
REASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
