JOB DESCRIPTION
Full-time position with experience in repairing all public buildings, grounds, and property. Building Maintenance staff are responsible for maintaining the attractiveness, safety, and cleanliness of municipally operated buildings and surrounding grounds for municipal employees and the public. Work hours are 6:30 a.m.
-3:00 p.m.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED
- Dusting furniture, walls, and equipment; mopping; sweeping; vacuuming; shampooing or steam- cleaning carpets and hard surface flooring
- Cleaning mirrors and glass windows and doors
- Scrub and sanitize kitchens, restrooms, and locker rooms
- Restocking paper and soap supplies
- Mix cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
- Perform cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal requirements
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and properly dispose of materials in dumpsters or other designated locations
- May assist in setting up meeting room furniture
- May assist or perform outdoor grounds maintenance such as snow and ice removal activities, landscape watering and pavement sweeping
- May assist with minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities
- Ue, operate and maintain tools and equipment for accomplishing the work
- Report supply and equipment needs to supervisor
- Ensure doors are locked after cleaning areas and after hours
- Clean up spills with appropriate equipment
- Drive a municipal vehicle between sites to perform building maintenance tasks; deliver/ pick up supplies and mail
- Pick up and deliver voting bags
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
- Must be in good health and be free from physical and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the required duties, or which might endanger the health of oneself or others
- Proactive self-starter with integrity, a strong work ethic, and sound judgment
- A positive attitude and commitment to working as a team player in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have experience in maintaining building structures, grounds and property
- Must be in good health and be free from physical and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the required duties, or which might endanger the health of oneself or others
- Must satisfy employer paid physical, drug screen and criminal background check
- NJ residency required by N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70)
