Location: Powell Butte Community School

Start date: June 1, 2026

260 days per year; 8 hours per day; 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm

SALARY: $19.71 to $24.95 per hour depending on experience (summer rate will change to days $18.95 to $23.99)

Job Title: Lead Custodian/ Night-Lead Custodian

Reports To: Building Engineer

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Directs the custodial staff in providing a clean and safe environment for the school's students.

• Fills a position designated for Lead Custodian or Night-Lead Custodian as assigned.
• Performs all general cleaning duties of the School Custodian classification, including emergency cleanup as required.
• Provides direct supervision for custodial staff.
• Opens the building each school day. Sees that all systems are up and running. (Lead only)
• Performs routine and emergency maintenance and repair as required.
• Monitors heating, cooling and ventilation systems and performs routine adjustments to building systems. (Lead only)
• Inspects for safety, sanitary and fire hazards on school property.
• Sets up and cleans up cafeteria as required.
• Mows, weeds and sprays weeds around buildings & curbs (Lead only)
• Is custodial representative on building safety committee, member of the building disaster preparedness team and holds a current first aid card (Lead only)
• Coordinates the setting up, oversight and taking down of evening activities in the school buildings.
• Basic computers skills required.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Able to relate well to students, staff and public.
• Read, understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions.
• Adhere to the federal requirements of a drug-free work place.
• Accurately transfer, record and convey information, materials and money, as required by the position.
• Able to perform the duties of School Custodian.
• Possess or be able to obtain an Oregon Driver's License.

• Length of Work Year: 260 Days. Length of Work Day: 8 hours (Powell Butte on split shift – hours/days as assigned) (Paulina – days/hours as assigned).
• Possess the physical ability to regularly attend work and fulfill the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Be able to travel within district and to Crook County Landfill and/ or Paulina Transfer Station, even during times of inclement weather. (Lead only)
• Lift, move, or be able to carry objects weighing 60 lbs.
• Responsibilities may require the employee to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
• Able to work from scaffolding and ladders.
