Maintain district grounds, fields, and exterior facilities by performing routine maintenance, responding to service requests, and ensuring safe, clean, and functional environments for educational and recreational use.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThis class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.
- Maintain the overall condition of district grounds, landscaping, parking lots, and athletic facilities to ensure safe and functional use.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist the Lead Outside Maintenance Technician with equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Prepare and maintain fields and grounds for scheduled educational, athletic, and community activities.
- Assist with non-HVAC repairs, including carpentry, painting, door hardware, and basic plumbing.
- Comply with all health and safety codes, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, to ensure safe working conditions.
- Submit and complete online work requests accurately and within required timelines.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are properly maintained and ready for use.
- Promote safe work practices and report safety concerns or hazards as needed.
- Provide general daytime custodial coverage during staff absences as needed to maintain building cleanliness and operational support.

Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma/GED
- Technical school certification in trades, preferred; equivalent trades experience required.
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
- Valid MN driver's license
- District policies and procedures related to maintenance, groundskeeping, and safety.
- Mechanical principles and operation of grounds and maintenance equipment.
- Grounds, landscaping, and athletic field maintenance practices, including care of plants and trees.
- Basic maintenance procedures, including electrical repair, plumbing, carpentry, and welding.
- Safety procedures, practices, and regulations applicable to grounds and maintenance work.
- Use of personal computers and district software systems.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain grounds and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to perform general maintenance tasks including minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair, and welding.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet scheduled activities and deadlines.
- Clear and professional communication with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
