Circulation Assistant

Hours
:
Part-time, 10 hours per week, Monday and Thursday evenings, Saturday daytime

Pay
: $16.00-$16.50/hour

Performs tasks relating to shelving library materials, maintaining library shelves and general patron assistance.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

• Shelve all material recently checked in
• Shelve all material retrieved from study or reading areas
• Perform routine shelf reading conducted on an ongoing basis
• Straighten and shift library materials as needed
• Assist on various projects as directed
• Answer simple directional questions as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

• Knowledge of Dewey Decimal System and alpha filing order
• Consistent and timely attendance
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to work independently

Working Conditions/

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English
• Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach various heights
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds
• Ability to push/pull items of 100 pounds or higher while utilizing a cart
• Ability to perform fine motor skills tasks
• Visual acuity sufficient to read various font sizes
