Provide assistance in all food functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Assists the Dietitian/Director of Food Services and implements recommended changes as required.
- Ensures food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
- Serves meals, snacks, and delivery of food trays to designated areas following portion‑control procedures.
- Sets up meal trays, food carts, dining areas; collects and distributes menus; checks dietary trays before distribution.
- Performs daily cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, and dishware.
- Washes and cleans utensils, dishes and cooking items according to established policies.
- Maintains food storage areas and helps inventory and store incoming food and supplies.
- Helps maintain department equipment and supplies in a clean and safe manner.
- Assists in distribution and removal of food carts and trays to dishwashing area.
- Participates in life safety and emergency drills and training.
- Assists in facility’s emergency plan activation and evacuation duties.
- Reports non‑compliance, allegations of abuse, or hazards to appropriate personnel.
- Follows infection control policies and procedures; reports occupational exposures.
- Complies with all facility policies and procedures and state/federal regulations.
- High school diploma (preferred).
- Must be 18 years old.
- Current food handler permit.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Supportive team member with independent decision‑making ability.
- Ability to move intermittently, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift overhead, and perform common physical movements.
- Work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Exposure to heat/cold, infectious waste, fumes, dust, and other air contaminants.
- Possible exposure to hostile or emotional residents, staff, or visitors.
- Requires frequent interruptions, call‑backs during emergencies, and evacuation assistance.
- Work in well‑lit, ventilated kitchen/storage areas.
The employee must abide by all standards, policies, and procedures of the facility, including the compliance and ethics program. Violations, including failure to report violations, will result in disciplinary action. Performance will be evaluated annually using the following scale:
