Water Sources Crew Supervisor

Provo City is seeking a full-time Water Sources Crew Supervisor to provide supervisory and technical work with responsibility for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the City drinking water sources system. This position involves participating in, and managing the daily activities of Water Systems Operators. What is the compensation package? Pay: (G31) $33.15 - $49.21 per hour (depending on experience). Main duties

Plan, assign, supervise, and review the daily work of drinking water system crew members.

Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair water source facilities, including wells, pump houses, reservoirs, springs, pressure regulator stations, and related equipment.

Maintain and repair pumps, chlorinators, telemetry equipment, high-voltage motors, valves, meters, tools, and other water system equipment.

Monitor water system conditions, identify problems, and resolve complex operational issues to help keep the drinking water system safe and reliable.

Perform and oversee preventive maintenance, general construction, brush clearing, painting, reservoir cleaning, spring box repairs, fence repairs, and other field work.

Set up traffic cones, signs, barricades, and other safety measures to protect employees and the public at work sites.

Train employees, ensure safe work practices, review performance, address personnel issues, and assist with staffing decisions.

Maintain accurate work records, reports, documentation, specifications, and maintenance schedules.

Monitor productivity, supplies, parts, equipment, and budgets; recommend and make improvements to work methods and processes.

Serve as a technical resource, perform Water Systems Maintenance Operator duties as needed, and act for the Water Sources Manager when assigned.

Minimum requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

Six (6) years of professional water operator experience.

A valid, lawful Commercial Driver License with Hazmat Materials Endorsement (HME).

An Unrestricted Grade IV Utah Water Systems Operator.

A Flagger Certificate.

Additional education may be substituted for experience as allowed by the State of Utah to qualify for unrestricted water operator certification.

Selection process

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on August 10, 2026. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration. If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
