Job Title
This is a non-exempt, seasonal position limited to 1,300 hours annually.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position involves performing unskilled to semi-skilled work in a variety of fields in the maintenance and upkeep of the public parks, grounds, buildings, athletic fields, pools, and related facilities. Key duties include:
- Cutting grass, maintaining ball fields, and maintaining pools.
- Operating vehicles and equipment in maintenance, construction, and utility tasks.
- Performing general maintenance in aquatic facilities.
- Performing athletic field preparation and maintenance.
- Picking up trash in the parks areas and disposing of it properly.
- Cleaning restrooms and picnic pavilions.
- Maintaining and performing light repair work on equipment, pools, buildings, and grounds.
- Moving and setting up for park functions including moving picnic tables, bleachers, and chairs for concerts and special events.
- Cutting down and removing limbs, branches, and trees that have been damaged by adverse weather conditions and performing preventive tree maintenance.
The job requires lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 pounds, frequently lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. It also involves standing, walking, using manual dexterity, and performing a full range of body movements.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe candidate should have the ability to work successfully with others, perform job duties safely, and use common hand and power tools. They must also have sufficient physical strength, literacy in English, and the ability to work flexible hours.
Minimum QualificationsMust be 18 years of age or older, have legal authorization to work in the United States, and pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Preferred QualificationsA valid driver's license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of employment.
Special Conditions of EmploymentPosition may require occasional overtime with some weekend and holiday work required. All City facilities and vehicles are tobacco-free. If you are required to drive for the position, all required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment.
