The Facilities Department is responsible for maintaining, servicing and improving the Jeffco Public Schools' 12 million square feet of schools and support buildings, valued at nearly $2.75 billion on 3,100 acres of land. The Facilities Department includes more than 700 employees in Building Maintenance and Site Maintenance, Construction Management, Custodial Services, Environmental Services, Energy Management, Facilities Service Desk, and Planning & Property.

Overall Duties include boundaries, long-range facility planning, enrollment projections, energy and utility management, capital and bond-funded improvements, custodial services, facilities assessments, facilities maintenance, hazardous material management, landscape and paving, property management, snow removal, water and wastewater management.

The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

SUMMARY Maintain assigned District facilities to consistently high standards through repairs and installations on grounds, landscaping, athletic fields, and playgrounds. Maintain a safe, comfortable, and secure learning environment for students, staff, and the public.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment or systems in at least one of the following areas: fence, irrigation systems or landscaping.
• Inspect, operate, and maintain various light equipment, portable air compressors, small trailers, high pressure washers, chain saws, etc.
• Inspect, operate, and maintain vehicles and equipment from light duty trucks up to single-axle dump trucks with trailers.
• Operate, inspect, and maintain equipment to include loaders and tractors with attachments.
• Remove graffiti using high pressure washer.
• Perform snow and ice removal with plow units or shovels as required.
• Apply herbicides, insecticides, and pesticides as needed.
• Sweep and paint parking lots and play pads.
• Respond to emergencies.
• Operate oxy-acetylene torch and perform welding tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

Two years of experience in commercial groundskeeping, landscaping, or facilities maintenance (e.g., at a school, park, golf course, or commercial property). Prefer experience that includes playground equipment, sprinkler systems, athletic fields, and fencing. Technical training may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
High school diploma/GED required. Vocational training in landscaping, horticulture, turf management, or grounds maintenance preferred. Certification in the safe use of pesticides, herbicides, or power equipment (e.g., OSHA 10-hour certification, Certified Grounds Technician) preferred
