Temp Maintenance Worker - Recycling Solid Waste

Job Title

This is a non-exempt, part-time position limited to 1300 hours annually.

Essential Functions:

• Assists with Pueblo Recycle Works site operations which includes yard clean-up, equipment maintenance, and assisting vendors
• Provides customer service by answering questions, educating customers on materials accepted by Pueblo Recycle Works, assisting persons with disabilities with unloading vehicle of accepted items, monitoring recycling containers, and performing other customer service duties
• Safely operates a variety of hand and power tools such as push mowers, weed eaters, chain saws, rakes, shovels, and loppers
• Cleans, maintains, and services equipment and tools
• Performs duties and special projects as assigned

Physical Requirements: The individual must meet and maintain the job-essential physical requirements of the position, which include, but are not limited to, lifting, and carrying moderate to heavy weight, kneeling, crawling, walking, driving motor vehicles and working in an office setting. This position involves outdoor work with exposure to all weather conditions, noise, fumes, and dust. The work may also be performed around water, electrical currents, traffic, and other potentially hazardous conditions.

This position requires heavy lifting of up to 96 pounds.

• Use a personal computer and related devices
• Use software equivalent to Microsoft Word and Excel
• Accurately collect and keep detailed records
• Work independently, in the absence of direct supervision
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Effective customer service skills
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work
• Familiarity with Pueblo City streets, locations, and landmarks and a demonstrated ability to distinguish cardinal directions

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• A high school diploma or GED

Special Conditions of Employment:

The selected candidate(s) will be required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check to include an MVR check. Currently, this position will be as-needed, on-call basis.
