  • Travel Requirements:
    The HVAC Building Engineer will headquarter out of the Largo, Florida location and support the other locations (Saint Pete and Lake Suzy) as needed. Largo and Saint Pete locations are 5–10 miles apart.

Job Summary

As an HVAC Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment for complex commercial HVAC systems by conducting proactive performance testing and ongoing scheduled maintenance. This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function, responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems. This is an onsite role in a manufacturing environment developing aircraft engines, avionics, and flight systems.

The role focuses on the actual facility rather than the means of production, and the engineer will work both with others and independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign tasks to team members and ensure all duties are done in a timely manner.
  • Install, repair, adjust, service, and maintain electric or pneumatic control systems used for building heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment, including calibration of related instruments, gauges, and control components.
  • Inspect and conduct ongoing maintenance on building HVAC equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment and compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and work safety.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify the best course of action for equipment modifications.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
  • Coach others and share in-depth knowledge of own job discipline and broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values; work to build consensus and convince others to reach an agreement.
  • Impact a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within own team and other related teams.
  • Work within broad guidelines and policies.
  • Explain difficult or sensitive information.
Required Skills
  • Commercial HVAC experience
  • EPA Universal License
  • Basic computer/tablet skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions
  • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset
  • Sophisticated math skills; ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations
  • Highly professional attitude
  • Excellent customer service skills
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4–5 years of job-related experience; in lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered
  • Journeyman's license required
Required Experience
  • 5–7 years of solid commercial HVAC experience
  • Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Must meet the physical requirements of this role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and the ability to carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more
  • Background package: CBRE Safety Specific — with drug screen & MVR
