Position: Housekeeping Inpatient 40 Hours 3:00 PM 11:30 PM

Job Summary

EVS Associate – In Patient performs daily cleaning tasks in patient, office, public, and other non‑patient areas. Responsibilities include daily cleaning, equipment cleaning, and project cleaning within an assigned area. The role is a member of the healthcare team requiring respectful and compassionate communication with patients and staff.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform multiple‑step cleaning procedures, daily cleaning, discharge cleaning, discharge bed making, O.R. cleaning, between‑case cleaning, upholstery, wall, and glass care. Continue work from the previous shift, report incomplete assignments, and report maintenance issues.
  • Perform dry mopping, wet mopping of common areas using appropriate equipment, including a floor care machine. Execute carpet care techniques such as bonneting and extracting.
  • Respond to stat orders such as discharges, spills, floods, and all hospital‑wide emergency drills. Clean all organic body waste (blood, feces, sputum, urine). Clean patient equipment including IV poles, commodes, monitors and cables, specialty equipment, stretchers, wheelchairs, and cardiac chairs. Assist with moves, special set‑ups, and any other occasion as needed.
  • Collect solid and contaminated waste, seal boxes in the area where waste is generated, and deliver sealed boxes to designated areas and the compactor.
  • Use department procedures in the preparation and selection of cleaning solutions. Report low supply of inventory to supervisor or team leader. Sign equipment in and out of designated storage areas. Keep housekeeping cart clean, stocked, and orderly. Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
  • Required Qualifications
    • Some high school diploma or equivalent required.
    • 0–1 years of related work experience required.
    • Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate web‑based applications.
    Competencies
    • Decision Making: Ability to make decisions based on instructions, standard practices, and established procedures with little supervision.
    • Problem Solving: Ability to address routine problems and identify opportunities for process improvements.
    • Independence of Action: Ability to follow general instructions and procedures; work is monitored by a supervisor/manager.
    • Written Communications: Ability to read and write in English to understand safety instructions, take direction, and communicate with patients, families, and staff.
    • Oral Communications: Ability to understand spoken English, follow instructions, and communicate effectively in basic English.
    • Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in routine situations. Specialized knowledge not required.
    • Team Work: Ability to interact respectfully with employees, professional staff, and external contacts.
    • Customer Service: Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and respond to requests promptly and respectfully.
    Physical Nature of the Job

    Medium work:
    Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently. The job is physical in nature and employees must stand and/or move around during the majority of their shift.

    Pay Range

    $17.00 – $22.88

    The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geographic location, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
