Water Systems Operator

About the role

As a Water Systems Operator, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of boiler makeup and cooling water systems.

• Maintain water system equipment including cleaning strainers and baskets, replacing and repairing leaky fittings, assisting in changing pumps, and maintaining clean PPE.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks and maintain reagent inventories; manage RE‑Use systems, reverse osmosis (R/O), and ultra filtration (U/F) along with other attached chemical systems.
• Coordinate and execute off‑loading procedures for all water treatment chemical deliveries.
• Monitor boiler, steam, condensate chemistry, and water treatment equipment performance to determine when cleaning, regeneration, or replacement is required.
• Understand safety data sheets for all reagents and chemicals used daily.
• Keep chemical dikes and offloading trenches empty, maintain proper system logs, and perform periodic cleaning of raw water and RO heat exchangers.
• Follow operating procedures for the system.
• Monitor demineralizers, pre‑treatment, R/O, condensate polishing, and circulating water systems.
• Communicate effectively with all shift personnel on system status and operation.
• Perform testing of boiler water, steam, and cooling tower chemistry.
• Complete preventive and proactive maintenance per schedule to prevent equipment breakdowns.
• Provide water washing, outage, and shift coverage support as required.
• Perform additional duties assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years experience with high‑pressure boilers and auxiliary systems; prior water testing experience is a plus.
• Formal technical or utility training preferred.
• Ability to work a rotating shift schedule.

Competitive base salary with day‑one employee benefits including health insurance options, paid time off, retirement savings plan, and 401(k) match. Salary range for the primary location is $64,059 – $88,215 per year.

• Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
• Must qualify to wear a full‑face respirator.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
