Summary:
Join our team as a Tree Cutting Expert, where you'll be essential in clearing and managing designated work areas through safe and effective tree removal. Your specialized skills will ensure both safety and efficiency across various terrains and weather conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Expertly control the direction of tree falls by scoring cutting lines and making precise cuts with axes and chainsaws.
- Evaluate sites and surrounding conditions to select trees for felling.
- Implement safety procedures by stopping saw engines and ensuring evacuation during tree falls.
- Assess trees for quality and characteristics such as rot and limb growth to identify risks and appropriate cutting techniques.
- Measure and cut felled trees into specified log lengths while ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Choose effective cutting techniques, including back-cuts and wedge placement.
- Continuously monitor logs post-cutting to confirm they meet quality and length requirements.
Requirements:
- Physically capable of performing various activities, including climbing, lifting, and heavy material handling.
- Ability to coordinate movements effectively, maintain balance, and possess good hearing and vision (with correction if necessary).
- Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds and routinely carry objects weighing 50 pounds.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in tree cutting or a similar role.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment physical examination to ensure they meet the necessary health and fitness standards for safe job performance.
