Facilities Enhancement Technician – NC State Student Centers

OverviewYou will be part of a team that fosters a clean and safe environment for students and guests of NC State University. In this fast paced, hands on role, you will use standard housekeeping equipment, tools and supplies to accomplish basic cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and disinfecting.
This position requires a high degree of flexibility to respond to and coordinate with the needs of clients, occupants, and requests. Communication with the team, others and supervisor is critical for success.
This role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs frequently and 90 lbs occasionally, stand for long periods, walk, bend, twist, pull and push.
Responsibilities- Report discrepancies found within the assigned building in addition to responding to emergencies and inclement weather.
- Inventory assigned area.
- Move and reset furniture.
- Perform proper routine maintenance on all equipment.
- Participate in snow/ice removal under the direction of a supervisor during adverse weather.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure NC State Student Centers business needs are met.
- Model the Division’s mission and values and foster a positive, cohesive workplace and congeniality among co-workers.
- Understand the goals and culture of the organization, and how employees’ work activities, teamwork, and customer service impact clients. Work with supervisor and colleagues to understand these goals and the culture.
- Adhere to all University policies, procedures, regulations, and Division standard operating practices and protocols.
- 4:00 am – 12:30 pm Tuesday – Saturday (7:00 am – 3:30 pm Saturday)
- 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Thursday – Monday (7:00 am – 3:30 pm Saturday & Sunday)
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.
- Experience performing housekeeping duties in a university (high traffic, hospitality, student union/center) or similar hospitality/commercial environment.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and best business practices in housekeeping industry.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, general public, supervisors, and peers.
- Ability to communicate effectively using university e-mail.
- Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
Valid NC Driver's License required.
