Facilities Maintenance Specialist
In the role of Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you'll ensure the maintenance and operation of our exceptional convention center and amphitheater. This role is devoted to providing excellent repair, maintenance, and emergency response to keep our world-class venues running!

The Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Center (RCPAC) has an amazing team of people who operate four unique venues – Raleigh Convention Center, Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, Red Hat Amphitheater, and Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. Our goal is to lead the way for others in our industry and provide exciting events to the City of Raleigh, including concerts, unique conventions, and expos.

Work Hours:
This position will primarily work first shift with some nights, weekends, and holidays required. Shifts will vary depending on event schedules.
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Performs advanced maintenance, repairs and testing of HVAC, electrical and/or plumbing equipment and facilities; operates required tools and equipment; performs work in accordance with operational and safety policies and procedures.
- Receives, prioritizes and schedules maintenance and work requests; determines required tools, equipment and supplies; identifies and requests supplies and inventory.
- Responds to customer requests and concerns; troubleshoots, diagnoses and identifies issues; recommends and implements corrective action, repairs and/or equipment replacement to resolve issues.
- Monitors work provided by vendors and contractors; reviews work to ensure it meets specifications, contractual obligations, quality standards and safety requirements.
- Inspects equipment, tools, materials, facilities, building systems and/or grounds to ensure functionality and safety; secures and opens facilities/spaces; reports and/or corrects issues to resolve operational deficiencies and/or unsafe conditions.
- Prepares, organizes and maintains records, logs, reports and documentation; monitors supplies and parts inventory; initiates requests of stock to replenish inventory.
- Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as determined by venue events
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E. equivalency; 1 to 3 years' experience in construction or skilled maintenance and repair of a variety of building systems including HVAC, electrical and plumbing, or related work OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in area of assignment or three years of experience in area of training, with prior instructional or lead worker experience in the subject being taught
Knowledge Of:
- Electrical systems, heating and air-conditioning systems, plumbing, equipment operation, and local building codes
- Modern office practices and procedures including the use of standard office equipment and computer applications such as word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications
Skill In:
- Selecting and using the correct hand and power tools

- Organization and critical thinking
Ability To:
- Identify required repairs
- Prioritize work by level of importance

- Communicate effectively with contractors and supervisors
ADA and Other Requirements Work Environment and Physical Effort:
Medium:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an outdoor environment and street environment (near moving traffic). Employees may occasionally work in or around vehicles, warehouse environment, and shop environment.
Work Exposures:
There is frequent exposure to individuals who are hostile or irate, moving mechanical parts, and loud noises (85+ decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn ,). Employees may occasionally interact with extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees), fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals or substances.
