Our facilities are essential components of our post-collection network, and we are seeking a dependable and motivated Laborer to support safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations.

Position Summary

The Laborer is responsible for supporting daily facility operations through general labor, site cleanup, material handling, traffic control, equipment support, and other operational duties as assigned.

This position will also be trained to serve as a backup Scale Attendant and backup Heavy Equipment Operator. The successful candidate must be willing to learn multiple areas of the operation, work safely around vehicles and heavy equipment, and assist wherever needed to maintain productivity, cleanliness, customer service, and regulatory compliance.

This is a hands-on position that requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform general labor duties, including litter collection, sweeping, shoveling, pressure washing, and facility cleanup.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized working areas throughout the facility.
  • Pick up windblown litter and debris from roadways, slopes, fences, operating areas, drainage structures, and surrounding property.
  • Assist with the acceptance, inspection, sorting, placement, processing, loading, and movement of approved materials.
  • Identify and immediately report prohibited, hazardous, suspicious, or unacceptable materials to the supervisor.
  • Assist with maintaining safe traffic flow for customers, commercial haulers, contractors, employees, and equipment operators.
  • Direct vehicles and customers to appropriate unloading areas when assigned.
  • Install and maintain cones, barricades, signs, fencing, and other traffic-control or safety devices.
  • Assist with inspecting and cleaning stormwater controls, drainage ditches, catch basins, sediment traps, and other environmental-control structures.
  • Support routine facility inspections, housekeeping activities, corrective actions, and preventative maintenance.
  • Perform basic equipment inspections, cleaning, fueling, greasing, and other minor maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment damage, leaks, spills, mechanical problems, injuries, incidents, or regulatory concerns.
  • Follow all Site Operating Plans, permits, standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment and follow established lockout/tagout and equipment safety procedures.
  • Participate in daily crew meetings, safety discussions, training sessions, and operational planning.
  • Provide professional and courteous service to customers, vendors, contractors, and coworkers.
  • Complete assigned logs, inspection forms, equipment checklists, and other operational documentation accurately and on time.
  • Work extended hours, weekends, holidays, or emergency schedules when required by operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Laborer will be trained to serve as a backup Scale Attendant when the primary Scale Attendant is unavailable or additional coverage is needed.

Backup scale responsibilities may include:

  • Weigh inbound and outbound vehicles using the facility truck scale.
  • Enter customer, vehicle, material, weight, and transaction information into the scale software.
  • Verify approved waste types, customer accounts, payment information, and required documentation.
  • Inspect incoming loads from the scale house or designated inspection area and report questionable or prohibited materials.
  • Issue weight tickets, receipts, and other required transaction documents.
  • Collect payments when applicable and follow established cash-handling procedures.
  • Answer customer questions and provide clear instructions regarding unloading locations, facility rules, and traffic patterns.
  • Maintain accurate scale records and immediately report transaction discrepancies or equipment problems.
  • Communicate with equipment operators and facility management regarding customer traffic, incoming loads, and operational concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional scale-house environment.

The Laborer will receive training and may be assigned to operate heavy equipment based on operational needs, demonstrated ability, completion of required training, and management approval.
