Description

The Shop Assistant supports the Equipment Manager and Senior Technician by performing routine maintenance, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks, while assisting with complex repairs. They will ensure the workshop is organized, tools are prepared, and safety protocols are followed, acting as a crucial, hands-on entry point for learning technical diagnostic and repair skills.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assist the Equipment Manager and Senior Technician with equipment repairs.
  • Keep shop clean and organized.
  • Assist in receiving broken equipment from golf course workers and groundskeepers and helping communicate to supervisors what issue the equipment is experiencing.
  • Perform basic, routine maintenance as assigned.
  • Return repaired equipment to their designated spot.

Requirements Required Skills/Abilities
  • Must be highly motivated and willing to learn.
  • Ability to follow directions from supervisors.
  • Ability to communicate issues with the equipment.
  • Ability to work early morning starts, select weekends, and holidays throughout the year for large events (if assigned).
  • Basic understanding of small engines and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of, and adherence to, safety protocols when handling hazardous materials or heavy machinery.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve goals.
  • Ability to efficiently multitask under pressure with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience
  • Experience with repairing small engines is a plus.
  • Experience with basic equipment maintenance, such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid level checks.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent lifting of heavy parts and tools.
  • Climbing, bending, and working in tight spaces.
  • Regular exposure to noise, grease, and hazardous materials.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
